I work from my small studio and workshop in the SO31 area of Southampton, where I am happy to welcome visitors by appointment. I create all types of glass work including, Traditional Stained glass, Decorative overlay leading, Sandblast etched glass and Dichroic glass jewellery. I also hold workshops in all mediums except the jewellery.
I have been involved with Hampshire Open Studios for many years and will miss welcoming visitors to my studio this year.
More about my work: Early on
My first experience of working with Stained Glass was at a night school class at Swanmore school, which I attended whilst working full time in the pharmaceutical industry. I enjoyed the class so much that I decided to follow on with the subject and gained a City & Guilds certificate in Stained glass and Stained glass design at Chichester College.
After being made redundant when the company I worked for closed, I used the opportunity to re think my Career and decided to enroll on a full time degree course at the University of Portsmouth. Five years later I left with a first class honours degree in Restoration & Decorative Studies. All my major projects were in glass.
I completed my studies by doing a three month work experience placement at “Vetrate Artistiche Toscane” glass studio in Siena Italy. It was in Siena that I first worked with Dichroic glass and was one of the first people in the UK to make jewellery from this fascinating glass. Later, I decided to branch out and learn the art of Sandblasting on glass, which I did at “Etchmaster,” Professional glass consultants in Santa Fee, New Mexico.
